Ringing

I've been interested in bird ringing since 2003 (you can read all about ringing and why it's done on the BTO website - they explain it better than me).

It's lots of hard work and long hours, but it's great to be able to contribute a little bit to our understanding of birds and what's happening to them. It's also quite cool to be able to see wild birds closer up then you ever would be able to normally.

I got my C permit in September 2011 (which means my trainer is responsible for my actions, but doesn't have to actually be there when I'm ringing). It took me a long time but I got there eventually, thanks to help from lots of people.

Now I'm on the road to independence and can start doing my own thing! Watch this space.

My first rings!
