I've been taking photos since I was in my teens, back in the days when film was the only way. But digital photography made everything much cheaper and more accessible.
My main interest is nature photography (as you might have noticed), but I'm drawn to anything with interesting colours, textures, patterns and shapes.
Here's a slideshow of what I consider my 'better bits':

Wheatear: Nikon Coolpix 995 with Leica Apo Televid 77 + 20x lens
My first digital camera was a
Nikon Coolpix 995 and I did a few years of macro and digiscoping with that. Lots of fun and a good apprenticeship, I think.

Southern Hawker: Canon EOS 30D with 300mm f4 lens
In 2007 I managed to buy a DSLR: a
Canon 30D and 300mm f4 image-stabilised lens. A big investment. The original intention was to photograph birds, but they're incredibly hard to get close to. So I mostly take photos of insects. It's a great combination for shooting things like dragonflies and butterflies. One day I'll save up for a proper macro lens.

Large Skipper: Apple iPhone 3GS
In the past couple of years I've had an
iPhone and that's proved surprisingly good for photography, even through a telescope (which I called '
iPhonescoping') though that's something I need to try again.
